Bunzl plc recently announced it has acquired two additional businesses in the U.K. and the U.S.
Purchased at the end of December, Woodway is a leading supplier of both packaging products and solutions to a variety of end-user customers in a number of market sectors throughout the U.K. Based in Northampton, the business specializes in supporting the e-commerce activities of customers operating in the retail supplies sector. Revenue in the year ended June 30, 2016 was £31 million.
In January, Bunzl acquired the business of Packaging Film Sales (PFS). Based in Denver, CO, PFS is principally engaged in the sale of food packaging products, including flexible barrier films and specialty bags and pouches, to food processors. Revenue in the year ended December 31, 2015 was US$6 million.
The company also confirms that at the beginning of January, it completed the acquisition of Sæbe Compagniet, that was announced on November 22, 2016, following clearance of the transaction by the Danish competition authority.
“In addition to supplying high-quality packaging products, Woodway provides bespoke value-added services to its customers through a specialist technical services team that is able to work in collaboration with customers to offer a total solution for their packaging needs. This expertise will be invaluable as we look to expand and develop our retail supplies business in the U.K.,” says Frank van Zanten, chief executive of Bunzl. “The purchase of PFS complements our food processor business in the U.S. by further enhancing our product offering, particularly in relation to barrier films. We are delighted to welcome both businesses and their employees to the group.”
